Intern/Co-Op, Data Science-Process Analytical Technology

This is position is intended for a 6 -month period from June-Dec. 2023 and located in our Framingham, MA site.

Overview

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Intern/ Co-Op to join our Process Analytical Technology (PAT) R&D group, part of the Global CMC Development organization at Sanofi US, Framingham, MA.

The PAT group develops and implements spectroscopy based soft sensors for real-time attribute prediction of therapeutic proteins to support cell culture and protein purification bioprocesses for a wide variety of molecules and modalities.

Position Description

As an Intern/Co-Op, the individual will contribute to the development of multivariate regression models, data cleaning and integration. The candidate will work in a cross-functional environment interfacing with Process Development (Upstream and Downstream processing), Automation Engineering and Data Scientist

Key responsibilities

• Develop and soft sensors using Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA) to monitor, and control critical process parameters (CPP) and critical quality attributes (CQA) in production of therapeutic proteins.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to interface and deploy sensor/analyzer within relevant process unit operations.
• Responsible for planning, executing, documenting, and interpreting experimental work and results.

Basic qualifications

• Master or Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Data Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Relevant knowledge, interest and/or academic/industrial experience in mining biological data
• Familiarity with multivariate data analysis (MVDA) and/or background in mathematics/statistics for engineering, data sciences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with statistical data analysis platforms and/or software packages (Matlab, R, Python, CC++, JMP, etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment and with attention to detail.
