Job Description
Sanofi Institute for Biomedical Research (SIBR) is seeking a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in biomedicine and data science to join our institute located in Suzhou, China. This role will have a dual reporting role to the Head of China Research and Global Head of AI and Deep Analytics (AIDA) at Data & Data Science (DDS) department of Sanofi R&D.
The responsibilities of the data scientist/Sr. data scientist in China Biomedical Research and DDS will include:
- Participate in data science initiatives to support SIBR research projects by applying advanced AI/ML algorithms
- Assist SIBR scientists in experimental design, sample preparation, data analysis and interpretation in computational drug design research
- Build models from internal and external data sources, algorithms, simulations, and performance evaluation by writing codes and using state-of-the art machine learning technologies (AI/ML/QSAR) for both large and sparse datasets
- Drive development and usage of de novo design technologies in combination with multiparameter optimization in the context of systematic hypothesis scoring and prioritization
- Close interactions with other SIBR scientists specializing in immunology, oncology, and translational medicine (TMED)
- Update and report relevant results to interdisciplinary project teams and stakeholders
- Maintain a keen awareness of recent developments in data science, precision medicine, and machine learning
- Active engagement in evaluation and coordination of both academic and startup collaborations as well as outsourcing partners
Qualifications & Requirements:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Biophysics, Cheminformatics, Computational Biology, or Computational Chemistry with strong expertise in data science and machine learning
- Industry/academic experience with a strong record of accomplishments, in particular solving Molecular design or Biological-Macromolecule related problems
- Ability to develop, benchmark and apply predictive algorithms to molecular design and generate hypotheses
- Familiarity with Deep Learning, Neural Networks, Embeddings, and Transfer Learning
- Familiarity with Data Visualization and dimensionality reduction algorithms
- Proficiency in Python or R and SQL databases
- Familiarity with some of deep learning libraries such as Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and OpenCV
- Ability to function and communicate in a highly multidisciplinary and culturally-diverse business environment
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in Chinese is a plus but not required.
- A change agent with a combination of business, science & technology, and diplomatic skills
