Job Description

As a Barclays Data Science Engineer, you will be a part of the new forces that contribute to driving the Data Analytics and Engineering innovations, improving Data Platform and Infrastructure elements of Banking Technology’s data insight application portfolio. Serving Business Intelligence and Data Analysts’ data needs and identify opportunities to improve banking’s ability to scale analytical data infrastructure and operational efficiency. Building modern data pipeline with mixture of SQL and NoSQL data store, and architect data pipeline which powers the storage, ML processing, integration and cataloguing of our data.

What will you be doing?

•  Designing and building data pipelines for the continued expansion of the data platform mission; deployed code is performant, well-styled, validated, and documented
• Creating dashboard or other business intelligence applications
• Creating and maintaining machine learning model pipelines or time series forecast pipelines
• Working closely with investment bankers to discover new data insight or productivity improvement opportunities
• Acquiring open data from sources such as SEC or UK Company House/FCA using

What we’re looking for:

•  Computer Science, Information Science or Engineering majors, Master Degree preferred
• At least six months of commercial intern experience in data engineering or data scientist positions
• Exceptional Programming Skills with SQL and Python
• Experience building machine learning model or recommender

Skills that will help you in the role:

•  Kaggle or data science hackathon experience
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and containers such as OpenShift, Docker+Kubernetes
• Familiarity with data pipeline tool such as Apache Airflow
• Experience with AWS data-related products such as EMR, Glue, S3, Lambda
