Ontology Senior Data Engineer - Whippany

As a Barclays Ontology Senior Data Engineer you will work closely with Prime Derivatives business, Product Development, and Operations partners to drive and execute on transformational initiatives that help realize aggressive client growth targets. We are looking for a seasoned hand on technologist to guide the team on a multiyear architecture evolution journey to position our platform to accommodate business growth and provide next generation client experience.

What will you be doing?

• Developing data models for graph databases to enable and augment a wide range of applications
• Setting architecture vision and establishing technical product roadmaps
• Utilizing knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices to inform solution design
• Developing data models for graph databases to enable and augment a wide range of applications
• Providing technical leadership through translating business requirements into solution design
• Promoting continuous process improvement in development practices, code quality, testability & reliability
• Providing technical oversight of FIS vendor engagement to ensure solutions meet high quality, performance and reliability standards to guarantee seamless client experience
• Delivering on critical business priorities while evolving platform towards its strategic vision 

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology
• Around 13+ years of Experience in Ontology Modeling, Knowledge Modeling, Data Modeling, Information Modeling, Data Integration, Ingestion.
• Experience working with knowledge graphs stores (RDFox, AWS Neptune, Stardog, TigerGraph, Ontotext GraphDB, Neo4j, etc.) and surrounding semantic technology
• Deep understanding of the theoretical and practical trade-offs of various NoSQL stores (Cassandra, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, etc.) 

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Experience with stream-processing systems (Kafka, Spark Streaming, Apache Beam/Flink, etc.), Distributed Cache (Ignite, Redis, Gemfire, etc) and with Cloud
• Strong algorithms, data structures, and coding background with either Java or C# or Python programming experience
• Experience in the financial services domain, preferably in Trade Processing or Middle Office applications.
• Understanding of OTC and Listed Derivatives/Futures, execution and clearing processing
