Introduction:

You will contribute towards a successful re-pivoting of decisioning strategy in the bank’s Chief Controls Office. In the post-financial crisis world, effective Control processes are at the forefront of Barclays’ strategic priorities, and one of the foremost areas where we are directing investment and innovation. The Chief Controls Office is at the start of an exciting journey to intelligently leverage data to meet these objectives

What will you be doing?

  • Driving optimal decision-making via the effective communication of evidence-based, quantified conclusions
  • Identifying the relevant data points for the issue at hand; understand and extract the required portions quickly through optimised querying of our data storage systems
  • Manipulating data efficiently, overcoming challenges around volume and velocity
  • Being responsible for packaging conclusions and recommendations concisely, making the appropriate actions intuitively clear for customers
  • Applying technical and analytical expertise to exploring and examining data with the goal of discovering patterns and previously hidden insights
  • Identifying opportunities for data science and analytics and communicate appropriately to stakeholders
  • Drawing insights from data analytics independently; coaching others to do the same
  • Supporting the development of a culture of continual improvement, including delivering new innovative data analytics use cases, e.g. predictive analytics
    Proactively identify opportunities for data science / analytics which will drive enhanced insight into the risk profile and control environment; lead engagement with stakeholders.
  • Understand, evaluate, translate and deliver control requirements into data science/analytics use-cases.
  • Responsible for development of a culture of continual improvement, including delivering new innovative Data science/analytics use cases, e.g. predictive analytics.
  • Identify potential areas for high value-add collaboration with other data science/analytics teams across Barclays; use this opportunity to share knowledge and upskill the teams.

What we’re looking for:

  • Creative solutioning skills – able to formulate and execute a strategy where a playbook may not exist
  • Experience in influencing senior stakeholders; you should be as comfortable contributing to a “business meeting” as a technical one. You will be the key person in translating business requirements into technical plans, and delivering results back into the business.
  • Experience training end users in data science and analytics technologies

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Experience working with SQL, Alteryx, Tableau and Cloud
  • Experience working with Cloud solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in application of supervised and unsupervised ML algorithms
