Big Data Developer - Whippany, New Jersey

What will you be doing?

  • Research, design, and develop computer and network software for global financial services firm’s Treasury Data Service (TDS) applications.
  • Develop software within an agile scrum team to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Develop and build code using Scala, Spark, and Big Data technologies for TDS applications that support the Liquidity team and regulatory milestones.
  • Define, design, build, and enhance components and functionality for TDS and ensure that this in-line with the Liquidity technology architecture roadmap.
  • Use DevOps tools such as GIT, BitBucket, TeamCity and Sonarqube to execute the build and deployment of the different components and service of TDS.
  • Work with other Liquidity technology application teams such as Model Execute Engine (“MEE”), Liquidity Database (“LDB”) and Treasury Data Framework (“TDF”) to deliver end-to-end projects for the Liquidity business stakeholders.
  • Work directly with the Run The Bank (“RTB”) team to maintain and promote enhancements to the TDS application based on release schedule.
  • Work with RTB to investigate and solve issues that are raised by users in the production environment.
  • Work directly with Product Owners and Business Analysts to define, prioritize, and deliver users stories using estJira.
  • Perform data analysis to verify and ensure that data generated by application is in line with business expectations via SQL queries using HIVE and IMPALA.
  • Translate high-level solutions into high quality technical artefacts.
  • Deliver strategic objectives within the constraints of a regulatory environment.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Functions Technology (Treasury, Risk and Finance) to ensure the technical solution leverages common components, patterns and principles.
  • Utilize Scala and Cloudera Hadoop and utilize DevOps to improve the quality and efficiency of delivery.
  • Participate in support for existing implementation and contribute to the definition of development standards, patterns and techniques.
  • Contribute to the model and design storming sessions, sprint demos, planning sessions and retrospectives.

What we’re looking for:

Requires Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or related technical field and three (3) years of experience in position offered, as a Software Developer/Engineer or related position. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the stated fields and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in the stated occupations. Three (3) years of experience must include: Using relational database or non-sql development and tuning to maintain databases; Applying design patterns, multithreading techniques, and functional programming frameworks to improve application performance; Working with DevOps tools (GIT, Confluence, Sonarqube) to control and automate software development, control, build and deployment; Navigating through development cycles for big data platform implementation; Building code and working with SQL language to perform data analysis; and Working with EstJira, Agile, and Git to build and execute applications.
