As a Data Scientist Senior Manager at Barclays, you will be providing support at a high level to a new Compliance Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence. You will drive continuous improvement activities across Compliance with a focus on data analysis and insights.

Hybrid Working

What will you be doing?

  •  Reporting progress on the Data & Analytics strategy to the Director of Compliance Data Strategy & Innovation. 
  •  Engaging in industry developments, particularly in the RegTech and data space.
  •  Collaborating with key partners such as Technology, Quant (Risk) and Chief Data Office to ensure best practices and capability plans are in line with broader enterprise roadmaps.
  •  Helping to define and implement an eco-system across Compliance by identifying wider colleague needs and skill sets (e.g data visualisation) and implementing expert capabilities
  •  Playing an active role in the delivery of the Compliance Data, Analytics and innovation strategy; lead and execute against agreed deliverables
  •  Gathering, facilitate and oversee data analysis activities across the Compliance community and act as the Compliance representative for regulatory and industry consultations
  •  Leading the rollout and embedment of Data and Analytics techniques across the Compliance function and supporting the development of colleagues within Compliance
  •  Sharing experience and knowledge and introducing continuous improvements in working practices

What we’re looking for:

  •  Data science qualification or similar; or postgraduate degree
  •  Expert in data sourcing, liaising with data source owners to understand available data sets and define regular data extracts to facilitate manipulation/analysis within the appropriate tooling
  •  Experience using computer languages, e.g Python, R, SAS or similar, for data analysis and an expert in data quality review to review all core components of a deliverable
  •  Ability to oversee, drive and track project deliverables from initiation through to completion, including accountability for escalation of risks to stakeholders

Skills that will help you in the role:

  •  Experience with new technologies in delivering banking services and digital customer/client experience
  •  Experience of data architecture and assets development 
  •  Ability to provide strong people leadership, performance management and talent development 
  •  Knowledge of critical regulation and guidance covering conduct risk in the context of personal data and technologies e.g GDPR (EU), Regulation B (US), CONC (UK) etc
