What you will be doing

The Enterprise Data & Analytics team at Albertsons inspires us to build best in class customer experiences and revolutionize the food & drug industry. This Senior Technical Business Systems Analyst role will be involved in the data and analytics projects in Retail Operations and Merchandising area. This position will be critical in building the next generation of data & analytics solutions for the organization and advancing the capabilities of our Enterprise Data and Analytics Systems.

Main responsibilities

• Drive data & analytics projects by collaborating with the business team, product team, and engineering team across the organization. 
• Collaborate with product & business teams to understand unmet analytics needs, elicit user stories, prioritize features, transform to execution plans, and represent the user’s voice throughout planning, development, and deployment.
• Develop new KPIs and metrics to extract insights and information from the vast data.
• Conduct data profiling tasks to ensure the data's quality, integrity, relationships, and completeness.
• Perform various data exploration and lineage tasks.
• Develop in-depth business, analytical, and systems knowledge to improve or build analytical solutions and approaches.
• Build and maintain a highly prioritized backlog to manage the work requests to build new dashboards, reports, analytical applications, enhancements to the existing suite of analytics products, break fixes, and technical debt for the development team.
• Knowledge and ability to use and administer the organization's Information technology practices, standards, and procedures
• Identify gaps between current and future state of business processes and prioritize opportunities to improve processes.
• Analyze business processes, fit-gap analysis, inefficiencies, and risks to determine the appropriate process and system design.
• Lead and facilitate business user meetings to gather process information. Assist others in understanding the flow of information/processes and data through systems.
• Collaborate and provide inputs to the development team during the development phase to meet the business needs.
• Knowledge of various phases and respective deliverables during the software development
• Applies Agile project methodologies to requirements gathering and communicating with the project team. Manage and prioritize requirements through the development lifecycle.
• Guides the project team towards the incremental delivery.
• Facilitates and encourages communication and information flow between end-users and the project teams to refine requirements, define the project vision, and develop goals and roadmaps.
• Identify, analyze and document system requirements (functional and non-functional).
• Oversee the planning and execution of User Acceptance Testing.
• Perform Data Analysis and Mapping for system conversion and integration efforts.Defines and supports reusable application components from a business and technology perspective.
• Contributor to application development principles and patterns.
• Partners with Enterprise, Application, and other Lead Architects in driving modular, services-oriented integration and solutions architectures.
• Able to provide coding and technical direction to less experienced staff or develops highly complex original code.
• Lead projects, provide technical leadership, coach and mentor team members

What we are searching for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer engineering, computer science or related area.
• 7+ years of business, systems, and data analysis experience in delivering large scale data & analytics solutions.
• Strong technical background with 5+ years of experience working in data warehousing and analytics environment.
• Solid understanding of the journey from raw data to insights.
• Solid experience with querying language such as SQL.
• Comfortable in querying large datasets for data profiling and exploration is a must.
• Significant experience with Data Analysis is preferred. Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of SQL against any RDMS is a requirement. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Snowflake and Azure data lake are preferred.
• Experience building reports & dashboards in Power BI is a plus.
• Understanding of Power BI APIs, Dataflow, etc., is a plus.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Retail and/or Merchandizing business domain I preferred.
• Experience in developing mockups based on the user requirements.
• Extensive experience in delivering data & analytics solutions and products on time with the highest quality and accuracy that meets business needs.
• Experience in working with shifting priorities and evolving roadmap.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and data pipeline concepts.
• Strong ability to prioritize and resolve technical issues within the broader project team.
• Strong technical skills in analyzing functional business processes, process modelling, business modelling tools, developing system solutions and documentation standards
• Strong collaboration skills while working with SME's, senior leaders, IT PMO and business users/ stakeholders to drive business analysis/user requirements.
• Strong negotiation skills when working with business users to develop requirements and defend systems capabilities.
• Ability to understand the users’ expectations and recognize and resolve issues that may affect delivery.
• Strong experience in leading discovery and initiation phase for large scale technical projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
