The Engineering Manager, Data Products is responsible for building and deploying data products that will be leveraged by other teams to enhance customer & employee experience through the data driven approach. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for democratizing the data for building the enterprise identity, client-360, customer experience, API's, and business intelligence & reports by closely partnering with technology teams, data scientists, data analysts, and other business users.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build world class solutions by collaborating with cross-functional team of ML Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Architects, Engineering Managers, API Developers, and Analysts.
  • Responsible for planning and building Data products including the ability to scope the role of Data insights in the context of broader marketing, loyalty and other customer facing applications.
  • As technical product owner work closely with Product management, Architecture, Data Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Information Security groups to define and deliver the overall solution including development of backlog of priorities.
  • Keep an eye towards emerging technologies and explore technologies that aid Albertsons stay ahead of the competition.
  • Inspire and deliver data engineering solutions that fuel the growth of the business.
  • Define and own project planning, budget estimation and management, resource planning and assessment, financial planning, and risk assessment.
  • Prioritizing, grooming, and documenting the backlog of work to be executed.
  • Responsible for delivering the backlog of work and direct development staff and contractors in executing the work.
  • Own accountability for the development and delivery of Technical Project Management needed to support Technology solutions and projects.
  • Continuous partnership with cross functional teams to ensure all solutions are being developed with continuity of the enterprise solution ecosystem, while meeting all security, data governance, legal, risk and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with Director on recruiting and retaining high performing engineering team.
  • Adoption of existing Project Management best practices, including the proficient use of industry standard tools, technologies, and methodologies particularly Agile.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, has excellent communication skills and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively within matrices, 'virtual' and flat environments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electronics or Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of experience working in data technology and cloud environments in particular Customer data and Martech technologies.
  • Must have knowledge of implementing highly scalable Restful APIs, Batch and Streaming Data pipelines in prior organizations – this includes building customer identity, householding, segmentation and integrating with MarTech, AdTech, Web, Mobile and other platforms.
  • Must be hands on in developing pipelines, this includes integrating
  • Real time mission critical applications using Kafka streaming and message brokers.
  • Batched data feeds from modern Datawarehouse and other data platforms.
  • Experience with micro-services architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, resiliency, high availability and user experience
  • Must have experience working in large enterprise organizations that require partnerships with various operating groups – security, data engineering, devops etc.
  • Deep experiences on developing and managing small to large engineering teams both onshore and offshore.
  • Experience leveraging cloud platforms, Azure is preferred but other cloud platforms can be considered e.g., GCP (Google Cloud Platform)), AWS.
  • Strong ability to develop structured frameworks and approaches AND innovative thinking to solve complex challenges in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent listening, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills: ability to prioritize, delegate and meet deadlines.
