Job Description

What you need to know:

  • Leads one or more teams of highly skilled data engineers that will analyze functional team requirements and drive the build of data systems and pipelines to support strategic insurance deliverables
  • Proactively identify issues and provide guidance to the team to ensure the resolution of program and team challenges.
  • Extensive partnership with key business partners, enterprise and data architects, data modeling, user experience, and delivery quality teams.
  • Engages and collaborates with projects to ensure project deliverable will be effectively supported and that support arrangements are sustainable and a smooth transition to BAU is achieved. Ensure service variations are within budget and are reasonable.
  • Works closely with suppliers to ensure high performing teams are assembled and consistently ensures their performance meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrix organization and manage virtual teams of onshore and offshore resources potentially across multiple time zones.
  • Support the process of data preparation
  • Track and communicate program statuses and financials with key stakeholders.
  • Accountability and ownership of multiple systems within the Data Office.
  • Mentoring/coaching junior employees.

About the role:

Candidate may be located in the following states: Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. 

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time / on or under budget
  • 12+ years of experience in a large Fintech/Insurance-Tech environment working on data projects with 5+ years of leading large and/or multiple program deliveries.
  • Ability to hands-on deliver where necessary to supplement the team.
  • Experience in managing projects using Agile methodology
  • Deep understanding of Data Pipelining/tooling/Data API’s/Data Warehouses/Marts/Lakes, Databases in AWS cloud environment
  • Experience with emerging technology platforms like EMR, Snowflake, Spark etc.
  • Proficiency in SQL coding. 
  • Experience in SQL/database tuning, data modeling experience is a plus
  • AWS certifications (architecture/data specialization) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to both a business and IT audience.
