Job Description

What you need to know:

  • Individual will provide overall database design across multiple platform types (operational, analytical, reporting) balancing the need for access against security, analytics and performance requirements within the database environment.
  • Supports translation of business requirements into Data Models / implements physical data models.
  • Refactoring existing Data Models for cross compatibility for Data Warehousing, Data Distribution, and Global Reference Data Architectures
  • Owns and manages technical metadata repositories that stores conceptual, logical and physical models of company data assets
  • Continuously oversees the data architecture environment seeking opportunities to increase optimization and reusability. 
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of technical modeling standards and guidelines.
  • Performs general maintenance and audits to troubleshoot issues. Makes modifications to modeling architecture to ensure high quality and performance.
  • Member of the flexible team of data modelers/architects for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Adheres to Enterprise/Data Office IT data governance/quality guidelines and participates in their implementation across the organization.

About the role:

Candidate may be located in the following states: Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong Information Engineer specializing in Data Modeling for various advanced data platforms.
  • Knowledge of Insurance platforms and associated modeling is a strong plus.
  • Broad knowledge of modern data base technologies including traditional RDBMS, row and columnar based databases, NoSQL platforms, warehousing, and Big Data applications.
  • Proficiency in utilizing modeling tools focusing on ERWin, IDERA studio and similar.
  • Strong ability to solution, design and lead data solutions including OLTP, OLAP, Warehousing and Data Marts.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written). The ideal candidate will be a team player working closely with both Business Stakeholders and IT colleagues including the Enterprise Architecture Team.
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Delivery overall with at least 5 years of data modeling and design.
  • Knowledge of modern, cloud-based warehousing platforms (Snowflake, Amazon RedShift)
  • Experience working globally with technical partners in countries in Europe and the Asia Pacific Region.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Strong ability to proactively troubleshoot problems and provide quick solutions for mission critical applications.
