We expect the creation of the two companies will be completed by the end of 2023. For now, we will continue to operate as one global company. This role is positioned to drive the success of the New Health Care Company.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Machine Learning Scientist, you will be part of a team of data scientists, ML engineers, and 3D computer vision scientists developing technologies for world class custom oral care products. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Playing a critical role in researching & applying new-to-the-world machine learning and AI technologies to deliver on our customer needs.
  • Breaking down complex problems into approachable stages and bringing concepts to production.
  • Working with cross-functional business and technical teams to apply your unique skillset to drive new-to-the-world data science implementations and business results.
  • Design, plan, develop, implement, and maintain innovative artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions against business requirements
  • Participate in the platform architecture and technology planning
  • Collaborate closely with end users, business analysts, and product owner to define technical roadmap
  • Ensure quality of software developed meets or exceeds expectations
  • Work with DevOps team to define deployment strategy and infrastructure for models ensuring model development is deployable at scale.
  • Create operational testing strategies, enable software quality teams to validate and test models, and ensure the quality of the delivered solutions.
  • Leverage Agile, CI/CD and DevOps methodologies to deliver high quality products on time.
  • Implement solutions that exhibit robust data integration and security.
  • Innovate constantly and stay current with latest technologies while staying focused on solving problems at hand.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, data science, computer vision, or artificial intelligence development
  • Experience developing software that facilitates AI/Machine learning algorithms and models to solve problems in specific application domains

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Experience with Deep Learning, Geometric Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and frameworks such as PyTorch
  • Experience with programming & data engineering languages like Python, C/C++, C# and SQL
  • Experience in building and deploying highly scalable systems, algorithms, and tools on platforms to support machine learning and deep learning solutions
  • Experience with 3D visualization algorithms and computational approaches, e.g., 3D mesh representations and operations
  • Expertise in computer vision sub-disciplines such as:  image analysis (object recognition and feature detection), 3D computer vision (acquisition / 3D sensing, computational imaging, segmentation, registration), machine learning (feature extraction, classification, clustering), embedded and real-time computer vision, video understanding (action recognition, scene summarization), analysis and reduction of high-dimensional data
  • Experience with Azure/AWS tools and technology
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure ML services and cloud deployment strategies
  • Experience working with Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Experience commercializing medical device software systems in imaging and diagnostics
  • Demonstrated scientific excellence as evidenced by publications and presentations
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analysis skills, systems thinker, results driven, self-motivated, team skills, ability to work independently and with distributed teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, including collaborative software development experience
