The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Library Systems and eResources Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Driving strategy around library systems and eResources by identifying and evaluating new systems, vendors, and resources and by tracking new technologies on the horizon (eg. APIs that could replace A&I databases). This includes arranging product demonstrations, vendor visits, and coordinating trials for the team and clients.
  • Managing library systems related work and coordinating with staff using project management or Scrum Master skills. Leveraging Jira or other PM tools to track current work and a backlog of future work and enhancements.
  • Building and cultivating productive relationships with vendor and internal 3M IT experts and groups to coordinate product updates and customization, and to incorporate new/state-of-the-art functionality.
  • Ensuring access and discovery of print and electronic licensed content through effective use of our e-resource management system (ERM), discovery service and authentication technologies.
  • Creating and implementing advanced dashboards and other visualizations of vendor usage statistics to support library resource decisions and system maintenance.
  • Building productive relationships with vendors to keep up to date with product enhancements, account manager changes, and service model changes.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university
  • Three (3) years experience (private, public, government or military) in an information center, library, knowledge center and/or a systems/eResources related role.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years’ experience (private, public, government or military) in an information center, library, knowledge center and/or a systems/eResources related role.
  • Experience with determining and configuring back-end functionality in library systems like ExLibris’s Alma/Primo, EZproxy, and more.
  • Proficiency with software programs associated with library and data science functions (eg. Alma, Primo, OCLC, PowerBI, Angular JS, Python, SQL, SML, SML schema, XSLT, and R)
  • Experience analyzing, streamlining, and creating processes, and documenting those processes.
  • Experience managing e-resources within e-resource management systems, knowledge bases, or third-party discovery systems.
  • Knowledge of scientific, technical and medical information resources
  • Experience developing training documents, or videos
  • Ability to work independently and balance daily and strategic, longer-term projects and priorities
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to develop and sustain strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
