• Contributing to the technology roadmap for digital systems technologies and platforms.
• Specifying, designing, and leading the development of state-of-the-art algorithms and solutions that improve the lives of patients around the world.
• Being an active member of high performing software development and AI/Machine Learning teams in an agile environment. 
• Contributing to and influencing cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and integrate with newly emerging technologies across 3M Healthcare. 

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start) and 7(seven) years of experience in software development.

OR

High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of 14+ years of experience in software development in lieu of the bachelor’s degree education requirement

• Five (5) years of algorithm development in a private, public, government or military environment
• Three (3) years of software development experience in Python in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Demonstrated skills in software engineering methodology including documentation, configuration management, unit testing, verification and validation, and commercialization.
• Experience with programming languages and libraries such as Python, NumPy and C++ to implement complex algorithms
• Solid foundations in: linear algebra, 3D geometry and coordinate spaces, mathematical optimization, state estimation, and/or path planning
• Experience collaborating with a team to explore approaches and then perform research and tests to develop innovative algorithm solutions
• Experience visualizing and analyzing complex multi-dimensional data
• Experience with distributed version control systems, such as Git
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Demonstrated problem solving and analysis skills with the ability to work independently and with distributed teams.
• Self-motivated with a proven track record of learning and adapting to new technology
