Job Description:

The Director of Data Science, Supply Chain is responsible for developing and implementing data-driven strategies that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of McKesson’s supply chain operations. You will lead a talented team of data scientists and analysts as part of a corporate Supply Chain / Operations Research COE to uncover insights, optimize processes, and improve decision-making across our supply chain ecosystem - with a particular focus on demand forecasting & inventory management.

This individual is responsible for collaborating with various internal groups, notably senior leadership within McKesson Technology, our key business stakeholders, and FP&A. The leader is also a member of Advanced Analytics Leadership team, as well as the Data and Digital Innovation Leadership team. They will collaborate across the team to build and deliver on broad data and digital organizational capabilities related to machine learning. He/she guides senior leadership and cross-functional executives in relevant issues and represents the department more broadly at the enterprise level.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and support adoption of network optimization initiatives, leveraging learnings and best practices across the enterprise
  • Utilize advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within our supply chain
  • Develop and execute data-driven strategies to optimize inventory management, demand forecasting, and procurement processes
  • Leverage simulation to support financial next best actions and integrate data science / machine learning techniques into existing supply chain analytics workflows
  • Collaborate with business stakeholder & MT Engagement Leads to identify existing, or new, areas that can benefit significantly from advanced analytics
  • Communicate strategy and results to technical and non-technical audiences / develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and internal clients
  • Manage business stakeholder relationships to drive action and value from data science insights
  • Identify areas needed to up-skill expertise by attracting new talent to McKesson, developing existing multi-disciplinary talent (data scientists, data engineers and business analysts), and/or implementing strategic sourcing partnerships
  • Stay abreast of market evolutions and dynamics regarding McKesson’s position in industry

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience (i.e. Supply Chain / Finance / Operation Research / Analytics / Data Science), with 4+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as: Operations Research, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience (Ph.D. preferred).

Critical Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in communicating complex analysis to executive leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of advanced analytics and big data technologies and methodologies, as well as proven experience translating big data into actionable outcomes
  • Demonstrating knowledge of stochastic processes modeling & optimization, linear programming, algorithm design
  • Deep knowledge of operations research, operations, finance, and supply chain analytic frameworks
  • Expert in ERP systems such as SAP / JD Edwards
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging advanced analytics to drive value and deep insights
  • Knowledge of supply chain and impact of same on financial statements, especially regarding inventory management
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets, financial modeling, and financial reporting
  • Previous experience managing complex projects and portfolios to deliver business outcomes
  • Ability to bridge business context with technical details and explain and discuss mathematical technicalities to a business audience

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in operations research, data science, and machine learning to identify opportunities for innovation
  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Snowflake, Oracle, MS SQL Server)
  • Proficiency with programming / database querying tools (R, Python, SQL, etc.) and data visualization tools (Qlik, Tableau, etc.) a plus.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms is a plus (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks)
  • Prior data mining experience using enterprise systems (SAP or JD Edwards preferred)
  • Knowledge of data warehousing & ETL best practices is a plus

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$144,200 - $240,400
