Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Participation to audit missions with focus on data science analysis on each specific step.

More specifically:

• Make sure to understand and express missions needs for data access and extraction. Perform research about the topics to be covered and Data Science methods. Data scientist has to prove the ability, availability and skills needed in order to identify the auditees (as internal clients) expectations and to find the right solution for their harmonization with audit missions’ objectives.
• Organize data mining and collection, while ensuring the respect of its confidentiality and enforce regulatory and internal regulations regarding storage (compliance and information security must be guaranteed);
• Be a force for bringing forward Data Science analysis proposals linked with mission objectives. Contribute and define the Data Science strategy for the allocated mission and work together with auditors for implementing it.
• Rigorously perform data analyses in line with mission’s participants’ needs and Data Science strategy defined. All the information used during the audit work have to be reliable, accurate in order to formulate appropriate conclusions, findings, risks and recommendations. The quality of the work is also important, the highest standards have to be applied during the audit missions in term of technical and non-technical skills.
• Periodically presents the status of the works performed and raise awareness in time, if issues.
• Present analyses’ results both to mission participants and to internal clients.
• Write detailed analysis report.

Plan own activities in order to perform efficiently the work requested, assign priorities to the tasks received (in cooperation with requestor) to ensure meeting of the global objective: high quality data analysis, aligned with deadlines of various missions.

Be an active member on Data Science Community and Data Analytics Committee in IGAD but also on Data Science Community at BRD level and keep up with the new changes on data science methods. The Data scientist should be willing to adopt new technologies like data mining and machine learning.

PROFILE REQUIRED

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

• Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Data Science
• Necesary competences:
• Data Mining tehniques: Web-scrapping, Data Extraction with Specific API, etc.;
• Statistics: Descriptive Statistics, Dimensionality Reduction techniques (Principal Component Analysis - PCA) Encoding of categorical variables, etc.
• Data Science Techniques/Machine Learning: Scoring techniques, Regression techniques, Supervised Classification techniques, Unsupervised Classification techniques (Clustering, etc.), Anomaly Detection, Sub-Sampling Techniques, Graph theory, SNA (Social Network Analysis), Community Detection, NLP (Natural Language Processing), Topic Extraction Methods, Deep Learning (Perceptron, Convolutional Network-CNN, RNN, LSTM, etc.) 
• Data Science Visualization and Data Science Related Programming Languages: Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, ScikitLearn, regular expressions, TensorFlow, Keras, Spacy, BeautifulSoup - bs4, nltk, networkx, etc…) R Language, SPARK/PYSPARK+MLLib (Machine Learning Library for SPARK), HADOOP, SQL, SAS, D3JS, MongoDB, HTML, CSS, PHP, etc.

• A previous experience in banking/financial institutions would be appreciated
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Team spirit, Innovation, Responsability and Committment
• Proficient/Good command of MS Office
• Fluent in English

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Internal Audit - Data Science is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months.

In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
