Job Description

Atlassian is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Confluence AI team. This team builds and deploys AI/ML based on features within Confluence Cloud to delight customers, increase engagement and lead new revenue sources. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, implement modern machine learning techniques, including LLM (large language modelings), and have a remarkable impact within the enterprise SaaS industry.

Your future team

The Confluence AI team is tasked to lead the AI adoption with Confluence Cloud. Our team covers the whole lifecycle of feature development. The team's base is in Mountain View, CA, but the team is split geographically between the US West and East Coast. This is a remote-friendly opportunity. You will report to the Engineering Manager.

What you'll do

• Manage AI/ML projects to achieve the desired outcome promptly
• Mentor more junior team members
• Identify opportunities to improve our productivity and bring the industry's best practices to the team
• Investigate production issues and provide improvements to maintain high quality for our customers

On the first day, we'll expect you to have

• Master or equivalent in a quantitative subject (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or relevant work experience)
• 5+ years of related industry experience in the data science domain
• Experience delivering impact in the domain of Content Recommendation, Text Classification, Knowledge Graphs.
• Expertise in Java & Python with and the ability to write performant production-quality code, familiarity with SQL, knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments (e.g. AWS, Databricks)
• Experience building and scaling machine learning models in business applications using large amounts of data
• Agile development mindset, appreciating the benefit of constant iteration and improvement

It's great, but not required, if you have

• Experience working in a consumer or B2C space for a SaaS product provider, or the enterprise/B2B space
• Experience developing deep learning-based models and working on LLM-related applications

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $184,500 - $258,384

Zone B: $166,100 - $232,546

Zone C: $153,100 - $214,459

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
