Job Description

You will play a pivotal role in Staples’ future by building and applying key analytical models, products, and solutions to enhance data driven methods and analytics for Staples Media Network. Staples is developing a retail media network, growing at an impressive rate year over year, with room for innovation to drive scale. You will design, develop, and deploy programs, models, and ML/AI algorithms to efficiently analyze data and optimize decision making for the media team and vendors. You are naturally curious and stay current on the MadTech/AdTech ecosystem, digital marketing, and retail media landscape.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and deply analytical solutions across a variety of functions, including, but not limited to: customer acquisition, customer retention, product development, ROAS, etc. 
  • Build and test audience targeting strategies and models, including relevancy, re-targeting, look-a-like models, etc.
  • Identify relevant data sources and pipelines, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables that can be leveraged for reporting and measurement
  • Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis, and clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
  • Research and analyze data to find deep relations within data to be used in the ML/AI algorithms
  • Design and implement ML/AI algorithms & work with engineers to apply algorithms to production
  • Analyze data and translate results into tailored reports and findings for vendors and business partners
  • Work across multi-disciplinary teams to translate business needs into testable hypotheses and then design experiments to test said hypotheses
  • Collaborate with Vendor Analytics and Reporting team to develop customized KPIs and visualizations for vendors and business partners

What you bring to the table:

  • Significant relevant experience building and deploying advanced analytics solutions in retail media and/or B2C environment. Relevant topics include: customer acquisition, customer segmentation and targeting, customer LTV maximization, churn prevention, ROAS, etc)
  • Data wrangling (SQL, R, Python, PostGRESql, Spark, Hadoop/Hive),
  • Data Modeling (R, Python, SAS, RapidMiner, SPSS), Data visualization (Tableau, Microstrategy)
  • Experience building in-production models, including associated scripting, error handling and documentation

Qualifications :

What's needed - Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS inStatistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or another relevant field

What's needed - Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist
