What is the Investment Risk Services Team responsible for?

  • The team supports Investment Risk Management team by designing and implementing technology solutions delivering of relevant data and analytics to enable the risk insights.
  • Develop ingestion pipelines to consume data from various sources – Structured and unstructured
  • Design data services and reusable frameworks, for the data for investment risk, data analysts and other investment professionals to easily access data
  • Ensure risk statistic and analytical data is available for reporting and compliance in timely manner

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Software Engineer?

  • Design & implement complex data solutions and data pipelines for analytical platform
  • Develop data services and reusable frameworks for data analysts and investment professionals
  • Enhance data analytics and presentation layers to identify issues or gaps
  • Play key role in managing current systems as well as architecting future risk platform solutions
  • Actively participate in system maintenance and upgrades (server refresh, database upgrades etc.); and liaise with multiple internal teams including IT, Risk and Compliance.
  • Work closely with investment risk managers and vendors to resolve issues and improve system capabilities / efficiencies.
  • Keep in touch with relevant software stacks, architectural principles, cloud native approaches and development standards / best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate competitive applications, products, new technologies and practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

Must Haves:

  • Undergrad Degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science or related field – Graduate Degree Desirable
  • 5+ years of experience in full stack software development
  • Experience with MSCI Barra, FactSet, Bloomberg or similar investment data
  • In-depth experience in Python and SQL. C# is a plus
  • Well versed with SDLC processes, Git / Bitbucket & test automation
  • Excellent organization, communication, and a diligent approach to problem solving are required. 

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in cloud computing like Snowflake, Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Exposure to frontend languages/JavaScript frameworks like Angular, React etc. and reporting/visualization tool like Power BI, Tableau etc.
  • Experience with building statistical, ML models highly desirable
  • Practical experience in using Web development, Microservices, Docker/Kubernetes & Linux
  • Basic knowledge of statistical theory, financial instruments and markets.
