What is the Enterprise Analytics Enablement team responsible for

The Enterprise Analytics Enablement team is responsible for partnering closely with the business leaders and stakeholder community to design and deploy solutions that deliver insights for better business decisions and to enable strategic growth. This team is chartered to ensure that the data capabilities are leveraged effectively and consistently across business units, driving R&D and innovation, to gain competitive edge.

What is the Lead Software Engineer (Data Visualization) responsible for

This role is part of Enterprise Analytics Enablement team in Technology organization and expected to contribute towards building of “Data Visualization Center of Excellence” with primary focus on Power BI and secondary focus on Tableau. This role is for someone with architecture skills in Power BI at the enterprise level, who is passionate about developing frameworks for analytics solutions to help organizations drive strategic business outcomes, implement Center of Excellence, and to enable data-driven insights. You will be responsible for Power BI architecture design/review, tuning/performance for environments, and life-cycle management for Power BI. The candidate must be highly collaborative, organized, and analytical, and is expected to partner effectively with other teams within IT, consulting partners, business units on an ongoing basis. Specific responsibilities include:

Architecture & Governance

  • Prepare Power BI solution proposals for business cases based on up-to-date knowledge of technical possibilities and overall data and analytics strategies.
  • Collaborate with business functions on defining business cases for data visualization projects, based on an understanding of value drivers and knowledge of technical possibilities.
  • As a Power BI champion, engage with stakeholders to communicate the vision for the use of Power BI, understand and address pain points, diplomatically overcome resistance to adoption, and demonstrate the value.
  • Experience setting up and leading Power BI Center of Excellence

Design & Develop

  • Conduct customer workshops to identify requirements and bring architecture design for data analytics projects within Power BI setups and environments.
  • Interactions with both the business and IT teams to define business problems, refine the requirements, and design and develop Power BI based solutions.
  • Create powerful, flexible, and scalable data models and Power BI Datasets to support reporting, business intelligence and advanced analytics

Analysis & Reporting

  • Build best-in-class reporting and analytics tools including tabular data models, Power BI/Tableau Report and Dashboards, advanced data analysis, as well as delivering recommendations and insights to solve strategic business objectives
  • Simplify and communicate complex concepts to partners to mature and grow organizational data & analytics capabilities

Infrastructure Management & Administration

  • Establish, foster, and monitor a holistic data governance policy aimed at realizing the strategy of an insight-driven data culture and maximizing ROI
  • Setup an alert and monitoring pattern for Power BI Premium environment
  • Implement tuning and best practices patterns for Gateways and clusters of gateways

Coaching & Leadership

  • Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and training across multiple stakeholder groups to enable, accelerate, and optimize enterprise analytics
  • Develop and maintain Power BI standards and best practices to be advocated by IT and used by business.
  • Regularly meet and discuss with Power BI content creators and consumers on refining and enhancing in nonproduction environments and deploying them in production.
  • Develop organizational knowledge of key data sources and be a valuable resource to people in the company on how to best use Power BI to pursue company objective.
  • Build & Foster relationships with business partners who currently use the analytics platform(s) and onboard potential new users or new use cases

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful

  • S. or Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Analytics, or another quantitative discipline
  • 10+ years industry experience in delivering technology solutions
  • Able to consult and mentor junior developers and contractors to deliver efficient technology solutions
  • 5 years’ experience delivering enterprise business intelligence, preferably using Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx & Databricks
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with Power BI in an Enterprise setting; Tableau experience will be plus.
  • Power BI Premium Administration experience, or setting up an Administration role for PBI Premium environments
  • Highly collaborative with strong communication skills and the ability to articulate a vision and build consensus across teams
  • Strong experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Strong experience with popular database programming languages including SQL, Power Query, DAX, Data modeling, other for relational databases, knowledge of nonrelation databases.
  • Advanced programming skills, including debugging, data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Advanced knowledge of reporting tools and systems and how to use them effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing technology solutions. Be comfortable introducing new technologies and new ideas as required.
  • Experienced in software development life cycle methodologies (e.g., Agile) and current technology industry best practices
  • Working Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Snowflake.
  • Self-learning attitude of acquiring new skills and not constrained by current knowledge and skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of highComfortable dealing with new, ambiguous, and incomplete information.
  • Python or R experience preferable
