Job Description

The Systems Engineering Advanced Airborne RF Department is seeking a Senior Principal EW Algorithms Systems Engineer for an onsite role in development of state-of-the-art, airborne electronic warfare capabilities and systems.

The systems engineer will be a team member on the expansion of the ALQ-249(V)1 Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band (NGJ-MB) program. This position requires strong algorithm development skills as well as strong software/firmware prototyping skills to drive technical solutions during all phases of capture and development. As a Senior Principal EW Algorithm Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, development, validation, and communication of the respective capability on a pursuit, program, IRaD or other business investment and will work directly in all phases of multifunction RF system capability development activities.

The program’s system engineering challenges include formalizing capabilities in terms of requirements, maintaining existing SWAP, maintain and enhance current performance, detailing functional and physical architectures, performing systems analysis, system resources performance, analyzing system open architectures, communication, and calibration techniques, and modeling mission performance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • You will achieve electronic warfare system expansion development of advanced EW algorithms and capabilities.
  • You will support the customer in defining their capability needs, principles, context, and scope; support program leadership in translating those needs into appropriate mathematical models as well as into quantifiable and verifiable requirements and technical metrics; use those artifacts to converge on an implementation; and implement algorithms into software.
  • You will evaluate technical implementation alternatives/trade-offs in support of business/mission/functional needs.
  • You will support the development of mathematical algorithms for mode/sensor capability implementations.
  • You will document the desired algorithmic implementation as well as determine how the algorithm ties into the larger capability architecture.
  • Selected candidate will be expected to travel occasionally to support working groups, system integration and test, customer events, and related external activities.
  • Selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and ten (10) years relevant EW/RF experience.
  • Experience with digital signal processing algorithms and/or related theory, specifically where applicable to electronic warfare and radio communications systems. Examples of expected skillsets may include FFTs, FIRs, CICs, channelization, DDSs, MIMO processing, FE, multi-rate filtering (interpolators and decimators), OFDM, Kalman filters, estimation, classification, and machine learning algorithms, etc.
  • Experience in the requirements analysis, functional decomposition, design, development, testing, IV&V, calibration, and/or operation of RF systems.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic warfare systems and understanding of advanced Jamming capabilities.
  • Ability to architect, develop and model complex hierarchical signal processing systems. Familiarity with interface standardization, layered architectures, and other architectural strategies employed to realize modular and extensible designs.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo (SysML. DODAF)
  • Ability to invent, model and simulate systems and algorithms at various levels of abstraction using relevant tools, particularly Matlab, Python, C/C++, RTL, etc. Typical tasks include system analysis, modeling, and development.
  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a similar STEM degree field

What We Offer:

Whether you’re just starting out on your career journey or are an experienced professional, we offer a total rewards package that goes above and beyond with compensation; healthcare, wellness, retirement, and work/life benefits; career development and recognition programs. Some of the benefits we offer include parental (including paternal) leave, flexible work schedules, achievement awards, educational assistance and child/adult backup care.
