Summary / Role Purpose

Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team to manage a talented team of application engineers, solve customers’ real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys AVX software in their design workflows, and grow Ansys’ autonomy business. In this role, you will manage a team of engineers delivering technical application engineering support and professional services and will help translate customer requirements into exciting new product features for our Autonomy solutions. As a manager (m/f/d) of an application engineering team working for the ADAS industry, you will have the opportunity to work with OEMs, mobility providers and Tier 1 suppliers across the world with the objective to deliver and deploy autonomous vehicle simulation software that balances time-to-market, cost, and quality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of application engineers in one product area in executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, product presentations, demonstrations, evaluations, and deployments to drive software sales in new accounts and expand in existing accounts
  • Conduct annual performance review for team members
  • Engage with key customer stakeholders to establish the Ansys value proposition, understand their product design needs, develop and implement best simulation practices to improve customer productivity
  • Partner with sales managers to review opportunities, forecast, build pipeline, prioritize engineering resources, develop ideas and support execution of new business growth initiatives
  • Lead and participate in the development and mentoring of team members, including, but not limited to, providing the team with effective guidance to support key goals, recruiting top talent, establishing cross product / sub-region collaboration, and professional growth
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement, suggest and/or lead process improvement initiatives, and lead the effective implementation of resulting changes within the team
  • Create a collaborative and inclusive environment for the team to work with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into exciting new product features, test new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems and measure progress
  • Manage team members to contribute to Ansys consulting services and field and digital marketing
  • Practice and promote One Ansys culture

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Robotics, Automated Driving or Physics
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+5, or PhD+3
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, or driving simulation software
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, logical problem-solving, fluent in writing and speaking English
  • Projects a professional image, fosters teamwork, and demonstrates business acumen
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of time
  • Expertise in Software in the loop (SiL) and Hardware in the loop (HiL) systems and sub-systems
  • Understanding of at least one of the following sensor types: camera, lidar, radar
  • Understanding of a relevant physics discipline such as optics, or microwave engineering
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using simulation for automated vehicle development

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+10, MS+8, or PhD+6
  • 5 years of experience as an application engineer, customer support, or engineering services type customer facing roles requiring application of engineering software.
  • Familiar with Agile development methodologies and test-driven development
  • Understanding of machine learning as applied to perception and/or decision-making algorithms.
  • Familiarity with both “Safety by Design” & “Safety by Validation” concepts
  • Understanding of parallel/distributed and cloud simulation.
  • Familiarity with ASAM OpenX standards for validation of autonomous driving functions
