ManTech is seeking an experienced Computer Scientist, Software Engineer or an equivalent disciple/skill set to support the Navy with Machine Learning algorithm development and operationalization.

Position Overview:

Major responsibilities are data management (formatting, labeling, storage, etc.), Machine Learning algorithm development, and construction of rigorous operational code. A considerable amount of historical data is available and opportunities exist to collect engineered data sets from ship hull, mechanical and electrical equipment.

Efforts will focus on creating a Navy Digital Twin. Candidates preferred to also be familiar with: Ability to operationalize Machine Learning algorithms; Graphical User Interface (GUI) development; Statistical analyses or methods to determine data quality.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, information systems, or information technology and 5-10 years of relevant work experience working with a database such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or IBM DB2, UNIX and enterprise-level change management processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.
  • Strong programming skills in Python with a proficient knowledge of data-science libraries including as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Theano.
  • Basic programming skills in C#, C++, or equivalent Object-Oriented programming language.
  • Familiarization with Applied Mathematical scripting in MATLAB, R, or Julia.
  • Experience with creating technical documentation and version control paradigms.
  • Understanding of modern data-structures and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of SQL and database design utilizing SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Data Management principles and modern frameworks.
  • Ability to code algorithms in Python and/or R.
  • Ability to manage databases and format data in a data lake format.
  • Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) programming.
  • Familiarization with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Support Vector Machines (SVMs).

Preferred additional competencies:

  • Familiarization with Machine Learning and Data Mining strategies such as: Recurrent Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, or Generative Pre-trained Transformers; Ability to operationalize Machine Learning algorithms; Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) programming; Statistical analyses or methods to determine data quality; Working knowledge of signal analysis equipment, including digitizers, analog equipment, and digital signal processing software experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Operate office equipment.
  • Be able to communicate professionally with ManTech employees and ManTech clients.
  • Must be able to observe and report.

The projected compensation range for this position is $77,000-$129,200. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
