Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Scientist Expert to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This position is a Hybrid role with the possibility to work from home 3- 4 days per week.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of existing AI/ML models and how best to apply them
  • Design and write code to turn machine learning algorithms developed by ManTech AI/ML experts into operational RESTful applications with simple/basic user GUI to upload files and display machine learning decision
  • Research python algorithms (GANs, RNN), libraries and techniques being used to solve machine learning problems to understand code received from ManTech experts
  • Use GANs and other techniques to generate synthetic data; validate the data against real data
  • Design and write python code with TensorFlow to solve machine learning problems
  • Design code in a way that increases reusability for future machine learning algorithms and applications, including publishing code for peer review
  • Develop working relationships with other ManTech data scientist to promote sharing and development of ManTech-wide AI/ML expertise
  • Work with Business Analyst, Cloud Engineers, and Cyber Security professional to recommend when AI/ML delivers value
  • Evaluate existing data platforms and recommend how AI/ML to enhance value
  • Determine how AI/ML can be applied to labelling office files during information system consolidations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related scientific or technical discipline is preferred. Work experience or industry certifications demonstrating technical proficiency may be substituted for education requirements
  • 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification required (CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Sec+, CND, SSCP)
  • DoD 8570 Computing Environment certification within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with functional data collection, data analysis, requirements analysis
  • Experience with Enterprise IT data analysis
  • Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, SQL queries
  • 4 or more years of python software development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with cloud-based AI/ML services and tool sets
  • Knowledge of Enterprise IT services and specifically performance characteristics that result in high degree of user satisfaction
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience designing and developing code to pre-process and cleanup data ideally with jinja templates
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience designing and developing RESTful software applications
  • Experience (even if only projects done on your own) in applying machine learning to solve problems
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Agile development experience with Scrum and Kanban
  • 2 to 4 years development with SQL
  • Experience writing code for Apache Spark
  • Experience doing development with DataBricks
  • Experience developing code on a cloud platform

Clearance Requirements:

Active Top Secret clearance adjudicated within the past 6 years.

Candidate must be open to random CI poly.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75%
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
  • The person in this position will need to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity devices
