Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Research Program AVP provides leadership, operational management and support of the portfolio of research studies and projects of the Center for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Research (CTACSR) and related HCA trauma centers with a special emphasis on research activities of Level 1 Trauma Centers. Additionally, provides the clinical and research perspective when interfacing with multiple departments including Regulatory, Product Development, R&D and Marketing. The Clinical Research Program AVP is responsible for supervising the CTACSR team members and managing all CTACSR activities including: development of clinical study and publication strategy; leading design of clinical studies for the generation of impactful clinical data in support of the company’s key initiatives; dissemination of the results in multiple forms (i.e. peer-reviewed publications) and providing education in research to members of the HCA trauma system. Integral to the role is collaboration with other HCA research teams to support like-activities, identify areas of mutual benefit to maximize economies of scale and combine resources and experience as appropriate to optimize productivity.
The Clinical Research Program AVP will lead initiatives for the strategic direction and has oversight of the Corporate and CTACSR research roadmap, specifically the management of the overall day-to-day and long-term execution of research projects that have impact on HCA facilities and trauma centers processes and care. This individual will supervise and execute development, planning and implementation of CTACSR research initiatives and support research activities throughout the HCA trauma system. High priority goals include establishing and maintaining a system-wide collaborative research network, selection, design and execution of large, multi-center studies (to include HCA and non-HCA centers as appropriate), integration of advanced computational and statistical techniques (eg predictive analytics, AI, machine learning).
This position requires an advanced understanding of healthcare-based research specializing in trauma surgery, surgical critical care, acute care surgery, burn, emergency care, injury prevention and health policy. Big data management, advanced training and experience in complex statistical methodologies and data science, release of information, privacy and security, and the value of collaboration among multiple stakeholders to maximize the impact of healthcare research are integral to the position. Additionally, the Clinical Research Program AVP will be responsible for interpreting HCA and research regulations and developing, communicating and executing implementation strategies/approaches for demonstrating research compliance across the enterprise.
