Data Science & Insights Leader (m/f/d)

Responsibilities & Qualifications

In this position, you will join our Global Digital Team and be responsible for leading a team of highly technical people who leverage advanced statistical analysis tools and Machine Learning techniques to explain operating behaviors, understand complex relationships between known and unknown drivers of performance, and build algorithms using advanced descriptive and prescriptive methods. You should be able to mentor and guide the team members to successful outcomes. A combination of strong technical acumen along with the ability to mentor and lead teams is paramount for the success in this position.

What awaits you:

  • You collaborate with translators to define technical problem statement and hypothesis to test and understand business problems to implement scalable and sustainable solutions
  • You coordinate with SMEs, translators, IT and data engineers to deliver holistic analytical solutions
  • You design, create, test and implement complex models and algorithms that drive analytical solutions throughout the organization
  • You regularly test and maintain analytical models to improve efficiency and keep up with changing business needs, ensuring timely analysis and testing for regular maintenance of solutions over time
  • You write reports articulating the analytics insights and their business impacts
  • You conduct and lead meetings and workshops to explain findings
  • You supports translators in communicating the design, functioning and output of the analytical models/solutions developed

How you convince us:

  • You have a Master’s degree in STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology or Math) discipline or significant experience in advanced statistical analysis; a PhD is a plus
  • You bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in data science specifically in building predictive models using Machine Learning techniques.
  • You have experience with building Artificial Intelligence (AI) models leveraging several data types such as Industrial IoT (IIoT), Image/video and unstructured text data
  • You have managed a team and have excellent leadership and change management skills
  • You have product development mentality and as such, hands-on experience with object-oriented development, testing and deploying Artificial Intelligence platforms
  • You are proficient in Python programming language and knowledge of SQL and R. Experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark and Kubernetes is a plus
  • You are comfortable in using SQL Server, PostgreSQL/ MySQL, are experienced in tools based on Git or SVN and working knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
  • You are proficient in aggregation of large data sets and statistical analysis tools
  • You are business fluent in English and German
  • You are excited to travel on a regular basis, mostly in the European region
  • You are able to communicate and build relationships with all levels and cross cultural
  • Experience in industrial industry applications or process industries (chemicals, energy, petroleum refining, mining) is an advantage
