Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate personal commitment to safety by following Novelis safety rules and equipment operating processes. Overall accountability for ensuring safety as the #1 priority.
• Use your expertise to develop new Al alloy related to advanced properties in the field of high strength, high ductility, high corrosion resistance and low cost etc.
• You will provide technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams for feasibility studies to analyze the commercial and technical viability of new products and processes
• You will be creating intellectual property to differentiate Novelis from the competition and have opportunities to present/publish your work at leading industry conferences/journals
• You will lead and work collaboratively with our internal partners to execute lab/pilot/plant scale trials
• You will be providing your expertise and technical leadership to the customer plant support (CPS) team in providing business critical support to our manufacturing plants around the world
• You will get the opportunity to enhance our R&D capability including novel methods and techniques, equipment, and quality

Education:

• Advanced degree (preferable PhD) in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field

Qualifications:

• A passion for technical breakthroughs and a track record in demonstrating rigor in problem solving by isolating a problem and drawing upon your knowledge and experience to design an appropriate, well-controlled experiments/simulations to identify root cause and possible solutions
• Strong data analysis skills, communication skills and ability to transfer complex technical concepts to peers and upper management. Fluent English is must have
• Project Management experience with multiple projects
• Profound expertise in the field of metallurgy, especially computational Material Science/Engineering by Crystal Plasticity theory and Finite Element method on model development for process-structure-property-performance linkages in composition/process/component design
• Finite Element tools (e.g., Abaqus, LS-Dyna) and programming skills (e.g., Python)
• The experience with alloy development based on Machine Learning is a plus
