Job Description

The Novelis Digital Center of Excellence Data Science team is seeking an organized, data-driven curious intern to contribute to the development of our internal project components aimed to streamline simulation development lifecycle.

Basic concepts of databases, object-oriented programming and data-handling are relevant skill sets for this position.

Location: On-site Atlanta, GA or Remote from Colorado, Washington DC, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Learnings:

• Exposure to the digital business operations of a large manufacturing company.
• Valuable real-world experience in the full scope of the simulation group.
• Exposure in real-world, large-scale data, simulation, and machine learning models.
• Learning of the manufacturing process and supply chain operations in the aluminum industry.
• Learning of simulation software development lifecycle in a digital world-class team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a software engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, mathematics, or related technical degree program.
• Understanding of software and model engineering concepts such as versioning, user-oriented design, test-driven development, and agile development etc.
• Hands on experience with Java programming.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Desire for continuous development and learning opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree and currently enrolled in a graduate program in Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
• Familiarity with simulation model development packages, e.g., AnyLogic (preferred), Area, Arena, FlexSim, Simio, Gama, Simul8, Simulink.
• Experience in metals manufacturing, particularly in the areas of process, quality reliability, and supply chain.
