Job Description

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is looking for talented leaders to significantly strengthen its global leadership depth and play an integral role in the current and future success of the organization. The Global Technology Co-op/Intern Program provides students with practical work experience in one of many diverse areas of Global Technology. The program allows the organization to build a pipeline of candidates for future permanent openings, and the students gain a better understanding of the various job opportunities available throughout Goodyear.

Ideally, many of the Global Technology co-ops and interns become permanent Goodyear associates after graduation.

In addition to challenging, engaging, and interesting work assignments, students have the opportunity to meet and interact with students from other universities at work and outside of work. Tours of Goodyear facilities are arranged to help students learn more about the business. Goodyear leaders make presentations to help students begin to think about significant business issues and career options. Students even have the opportunity to speak with the Goodyear Senior Leadership Team.

Function Overview and Project Task/Responsibilities

The Global Material Science team in Goodyear's Akron Innovation Center is responsible for identifying, developing, and industrializing new material technologies for all of Goodyear's product lines including consumer, truck, aircraft, off-road, and racing. Teams within the department are responsible for providing Goodyear a sustainable competitive advantage in tire performance and virtual tire development based on best-in-class material technology. Associates work with cross functional product design teams and information technology teams to establish end-user programs/systems which can create performance targets for tires and tire components. Project tasks and responsibilities would include any or all of the following:

• Virtual compound modeling
• Database architecture/setup
• Understanding of cloud computing environments
• Understanding of Continuous Improvement/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Understanding of Agile methods, modularity, DevOps
• Experience in Python, C, or other object-oriented languages
• Data Analysis

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelors in the following areas: Data Science, Computer Science, or any other relevant area.

• Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required
• Entering Sophomore year or higher
• Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills
• Demonstrated technical experience in relevant area(s)
• Prior engineering co-op/internship experience desired
