What you'll do

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will lead the development of data infrastructure and data products. You’ll lead a technical team alongside working with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure our business can drive maximum value from data. 

You’ll work closely with product managers, data engineers, platform engineering and architecture to design and implement new data orchestration pipelines, machine learning solutions and business intelligence reporting. You’ll ensure robust quality assurance, documentation, and compliance to specified standards and procedures. 

You’ll play an active role in growing our data engineering capability at National Grid, developing team members, managing vendors and recruiting new talent. You’ll also be part of a growing and active community across digital, sharing knowledge and experience.

What you'll need

You’ll be a driven and motivated engineer that values team success ahead of your own, with a proven ability to design, deploy and maintain data engineering solutions. You’ll be flexible, willing to adapt to the changing needs of the business and adept at managing delivery in a complex environment. 

As a technical leader, you’ll have experience of cloud databases (such as Snowflake), developing ELT/ETL workflows (such as through Matillion), Azure technologies (such as Event Hubs) in addition to common languages such as SQL and Python.
