Job Description

Wolt has been growing substantially in the past years and this growth has posed new challenges when working with data. We want to make sure that the teams consuming data are able to do so without spending the majority of their time acquiring, cleaning and transforming it. This is where DataOps comes to the rescue! 

This team is responsible for bridging the gap between data integration, data engineering and data documentation, helping other teams to access the right data and shorten the cycle time. In practice you would be working to integrate both internal and external data sources into our warehouse and help develop the tooling that makes these operations reliable, seamless and simple. In addition, the long term goal for DataOps is to help other teams to become more independent with data analysis and data quality by coaching, tools and best practices.

We currently have several sophisticated projects in operation, featuring hundreds of data pipelines serving thousands of use cases. Consequently, this team will play a significant role in influencing the future of DataOps at Wolt. Since the team is well established however, we have various responsibilities and roles that can be tailored according to each team member's background and willingness to assume responsibilities.

Our humble expectations

Working in this team means putting both your technical and interpersonal skills into action. If you have been working with data engineering before, you probably know your way around data modeling, data warehousing and databases (we use Postgres, MongoDB and Snowflake), you will be also contributing to some of our core data projects such as data integration, quality, monitoring, scheduling frameworks.

Our data platform is mainly built with Python, so you should be comfortable with it and have knowledge around typing, testing and managing dependencies. Experience with Kafka, Airflow and Kubernetes is a plus, as a large part of our data stack relies on those technologies.

Helping out other product teams is at the core of this role, so good collaboration and communication skills will be needed. Having a genuine desire for wanting to make data work better for all users ensures that you’ll enjoy the role as well.
