Basic Function: Health Language is seeking a highly qualified Health Informatics Specialist. This role will bring a consultative approach to identifying and solving internal as well as external customer needs. This is a hands-on position in the analysis, delivery, and support of clinical natural language processing solutions and business process re-engineering. This individual will aid in analysis of clinical content and use this information to develop and recommend content update strategy to the lead informatics and director of Informatics. In addition, this role will partner with the sales team and operational unit to win new business and promote products and services to existing book of business clients, as well as provide the essential interface between information technology and external clients. This role could include accompanying sales team on client meetings and presentations, as well as review and make recommendations on presentations/materials for clients within their assigned area of expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the clinical team, this position will be responsible for improving the quality for the Health Language Natural Language Processing Solution.
  • Lead informatics resource involved in client implementations including performing product demonstrations, presentations, and issue resolution.
  • Leads workflow analysis, design, and implementation to improve processes that align with business objectives and strategic planning.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and subject matter experts to gather workflow requirements, assess, redesign identified workflows, propose solutions, review issues, gain commitment and continually improve productivity of clinical and business programs.
  • Monitors and measures the risk factors in complex business and informatics processes especially during client implementations and communicates those risks to informatics leadership and stakeholders.
  • Participates in and manages multiple medium to large and complex projects to ensure continuous quality control of process and deliverables.
  • Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional, and interpersonal relationship with all stakeholders of assigned projects and always represents the best interest of Wolters Kluwer.
  • Combines strong technical skills with business acumen and effective communication to deliver complex data-driven solutions to organizational operation.
  • Use product and technical knowledge to assist content team in developing new products/content and enhancing existing products/content.
  • Serve as the Health Language point of contact throughout the content deployment lifecycle within the Content Analyst Team - advising and consulting internal/external contacts on use and operations of HL products and content.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business, analytics, or healthcare.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in creating data models, database design development, data mining and/or data segmentation techniques

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Proficiency with Java, SQL or other programming languages.
  • Experience or exposure to use of healthcare terminologies (SNOMED CT, CPT-4, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, APC, LOINC, RxNorm, etc.)
  • Experience in natural language processing preferred
  • Experience with data analysis software, electronic health records, and other healthcare platforms preferred
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to external customers and internal team members.
  • Solid problem-solving skills: ability to manage and resolve conflict, communicate issues and propose solutions to both internal teams and external customers.
  • Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as a part of a solution-based sales process.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take the initiative to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time.
  • Knowledge of all facets of healthcare including hospital, ambulatory, health plans, etc. a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Information Technology, Informatics, or similar discipline required
  • Master’s Degree in Health or Medical Informatics or equivalent experience preferred

Salary range: $73,500 - $105,000
