Job Description

Responsible for developing and analyzing statistical models to influence business strategy for assigned projects. Leverages relationships with business unit leaders (e.g., General Managers, Product Managers and Sales Executives) to facilitate the implementation and continuous optimization of strategies to overcome business challenges and maximize revenue growth and customer retention. Collects internal and external data and secondary research for assigned projects, extracting business insight through data analysis and providing recommendations for implementation and execution. Advanced knowledge of analytical software tools (e.g., SAS, JMP, KXEN, etc.), financial analytical expertise with financial, compliance and other databases and external tools. Analytical proficiency with SAP/ECC, SAP/CRM, SAP/Business Objects, MicroStrategies, business intelligence, and other data warehouse databases. Proficiency with mapping tools (e.g., AlignStar). Applies statistical methodologies (e.g., linear regression, logistic regression, CHAID/CART) with superior Excel and other data management skills (e.g., PivotTable, Macros, Analysis ToolPak).

The OpEx & Analytics Group is at the heart of the transformation of Global Business Services (GBS) and the broader central functions within Wolters Kluwer. The group provides thought leadership to identify, assess, implement and manage different aspects of a rich pipeline of operational improvements across Wolters Kluwer. The team helps manage the change agenda by prioritizing opportunities, analyzing options, engaging with vendors and coordinating with the technology, finance and strategic sourcing groups to execute the different initiatives. The Analytics Team within OpEx & Analytics engages and supports aspects of these initiatives: from opportunity identification, to quantitative analyses, insight generation and monitoring. OpEx & Analytics also tracks and reports on Operational Excellence initiatives across the BizOps & Strategy, Strategic Sourcing, Technology, and Finance functions within GBS. The BI Analyst will play a pivotal role in tracking and using data to help business make decisions.

The Role

The Senior Analyst in the OpEx & Analytics group is a critical role to ensuring the continued success of the GBS division with the broader Wolters Kluwer company. She/He will be responsible for managing data and develop insights. Working with leaders and other key contacts from each function, you will be adept at using large datasets to find opportunities for tracking quantitative and qualitative details and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. You must have strong experience using a variety of data analysis methods with the correct tools, building, and implementing models for simulation. The Senior Analyst role requires a well-rounded individual who can excel across a wide array of activities – you can comfortably interact with a wide array of stakeholders to gather information and derive insights from data to improve business outcomes

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work with technology, finance and sourcing and procurement teams to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to identify trends and opportunities
  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users can use our solutions
  • The BI analyst has work across the following areas
  • Operations: develop models for forecasting, regression analysis, monitor key metrics, root cause analysis for changes in metrics, building and analyzing dashboards and reports
  • Exploratory Analysis: Building key data sets for operational and exploratory analysis, proposing what to build in the roadmap, understanding trends and behaviors and identifying new levers to improve metrics
  • Infrastructure – work in SQL/Oracle for automating analyses and author pipelines via SQL and Python based ETL framework
  • Strong communication and organization skills – experience with presenting and explaining any technical analysis to a non-technical audience

Job Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Ability to translate data into visually appealing and executive ready reports and/or dashboards
  • Experience in SQL and other programming language
  • Development experience in Python is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of statistics – hypothesis testing, regression etc.
  • Ability to query data in databases, understanding of ETL process and familiarity with additional analytical tools preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues and/or assignments with time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills to own and update repositories of information from many sources across Wolters Kluwer
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization
  • Capable of being both an individual contributor as well as a team player
  • Up to 5% travel may be required, but will vary based on opportunities being addressed

Education

  • BTech or BS degree (focus in Engineering, Statistics, Math, Economics preferred) or related experience
  • MS degree (focus in Data Science preferred)
