Global Technology’s Chief Data Office is looking for an experienced data scientist to join our Corporate Functions - HR data science team. Responsibilities will include applied research, development, and implementation of machine learning solutions for multitude people analytics areas, such as recruitment, career advancement, mobility, organizational structures, performance management, and talent development. The role requires a rare combination of sophisticated analytical expertise, business acumen, strategic mindset, client relationship skills, management in Agile delivery framework, and a passion for generating business impact. This individual will join a diverse and dynamic team tasked with mining our internal data to develop new data science solutions targeted towards Human Resources function.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply your expertise in people research, quantitative & qualitative analysis, data science, and data visualization to help Prudential recruit, select, grow, retain, and understand talent.
  • Identify, source, transform and join public, proprietary and internal data sources.
  • Model large structured and unstructured data sources (e.g., text, speech/audio).
  • Translate the data and your models into a compelling story that business leaders and HR partners will easily be able to understand.
  • Communicate statistical analyses, machine learning approaches, and results, as well as implications of those efforts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Partner across HR and the business on people projects to identify and clarify critical people issues, understand our systems and processes, and analyze data to drive desirable impacts on Prudential’s people goals.
  • Be comfortable working within a matrixed environment where your work will exclusively live within Human Resources, but your reporting structure will be within Global Technology.
  • Be understanding and willing to exercise exceptional judgment and discretion while dealing with highly sensitive people data and engagement with internal controls functions, such as legal.
  • Be technically proficient in working with HR systems.
  • Be technically proficient in working with Data Science systems and tools (e.g., Jupyter, Python, SQL).
  • Implement advanced statistical methods for prediction and optimization including a wide variety of machine learning technologies, including but not limited to, regression, decision trees/forests, boosted models, clustering, etc., for exploratory analysis, survival analysis, segmentation, prediction, recommendation systems, and organizational network analysis.
  • Execute all aspects of an advanced analytical project under guidance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial, Data Science, Business, or other related degree. Bachelor’s degree with equivalent relevant work experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience applying multivariate statistical methods to people research problems in organizations.
  • 2+ years of experience in Python, SQL, and core data science packages such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and TensorFlow/Keras/PyTorch/FastAI.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with ability to present complex statistical concepts to non-analytical stakeholders (Excel, Word and PowerPoint are a must)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial, Data Science, Business, or other related degree.
  • 2+ years of experience with machine learning and text mining/natural language processing (NLP).
  • 5+ years of experience applying multivariate statistical methods and machine learning solutions to people research problems in organizations.
  • 2+ years of experience in Workforce Analytics with experience working with large complex data extracts from HRM and ATS.
  • Prior academic or industry research experience, exposure to financial services, insurance industry, and employment law
  • Prior experience working in a start-up or agile culture.
