Operational Risk Management (ORM) is looking to fill a newly created Director of Data Analytics position. ORM is responsible for establishing enterprise-wide policies and procedures governing operational risk, and for monitoring Prudential’s overall operational risk exposure. This includes risk oversight relating to people, process, systems and external events. The role will provide technical leadership for the ORM business professionals while interfacing and partnering with the Global Technology organization. This position will be hybrid.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish relationships with various ORM teams to gain an understanding of data resource needs.
  • Translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Build queries, extract, mine and stratify data. Apply advanced queries and analysis across multiple technologies. Integrate and mine large data sets, connecting data from disparate sources to identify insights and patterns using traditional, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Employ data science techniques using structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Develop solutions in partnership with Global Technology.
  • Present findings in written and verbal reports to key stakeholders, communicating with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Conduct demonstrations of data analytics projects, support training on data analysis applications and methodology, and enable individuals through increased tool availability.
  • Stay abreast of leading practices in data analytics emerging technologies, business, and market trends to support the implementation of innovation solutions (e.g., RPA, predictive analytics, etc.).

Qualifications include:

  • 8-10 years of relevant industry experience with responsibility for developing advanced quantitative, analytical, statistical and data science solutions.
  • Hands-on experience applying a wide variety of technology solutions to real world problems spanning analysis, predictive modeling and optimization of structured and unstructured data. Includes data visualization experience, such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Business analyst experience including active interfacing with non-technical business partners to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with ability to present complex statistical and data science concepts to non-analytical stakeholders (Excel, Word and PowerPoint are a must) and story-telling capabilities to articulate business value.
  • Background in developing relationships with business leaders with ability to influence and drive adoption of data analytics and data science solutions.
  • Strong collaborator and commitment to teamwork and building consultative business relationships, as well as ability to work independently. 
  • High motivation and self-starter abilities with a strong sense of accountability and dedication to excellence.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university with a major/minor in business analytics, computer science, management information systems and/or risk management is a plus.
  • Financial services industry or insurance industry experience is a plus but is not a prerequisite.
