Job Description

The successful candidate will lead a research program in developing novel computational biology methods and machine learning algorithms, aimed at accelerating the target discovery process. It is expected that the candidate will routinely publish work in top-tier computational biology or ML venues. The candidate will collaborate with a variety of scientists to address challenging problems using computational biology, machine learning, and other computational techniques. Prior biological or chemical experience is advantageous.

The opportunity

  • Lead a research program at the intersection of computational biology, machine learning, and genomics, regularly publishing in top-tier computational biology or ML venues.
  • Over time, grow into an externally recognized leader in computational biology.
  • Mentor PhD interns, and collaborate with other full-time scientists.
  • Conceive and lead collaborations, both internally and externally.
  • Maintain expertise at the forefront of multiple areas in computational sciences and genomics.
  • Collaborate with biologists, chemists, physicians, and computational scientists to identify impactful problems that can be solved with applied machine learning and other computational techniques.
  • Proactively engage with interdisciplinary teams on the datasets, scientific knowledge, and machine learning techniques relevant to impactful problems. Design machine learning solutions, and collaborate with applied ML scientists and research engineers to implement and evaluate solutions.
  • (Required) Focus on method development for searching and interpreting transcriptional signatures.

Desired Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related quantitative field (​e.g.​ Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform first-class research.
  • Excellent data science and programming experience.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in using innovative methods for analyzing high-dimensional data.
  • Ability to distill complex issues and clearly articulate solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of the United States is $113,700 - $211,100 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
