Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing deep learning models using data obtained from clinical studies, including digital pathology and biomedical data, under senior team member mentorship.

• Support machine learning analysis processes like data preparation, model testing, and results reporting, with close supervision.

• Learn code development and maintenance, practice using Git for version control, and understand professional governance and review policies.

Program Highlights

• Intensive 12-weeks , full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

• Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

• A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

• Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

• Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Required Education

• Must be pursuing a Master's Degree or PhD in: computer science, machine learning, statistics, bioinformatics, engineering or a related field

Required skills

• Strong software development skills in Python

• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, PyG, or DGL.

• Basic understanding about Linux OS commands and tools such as Conda, Docker, or Singularity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with or interest in applying image processing methods to biomedical images. Any experience or knowledge of utilizing acceleration hardware would be beneficial.

• Exposure to or eagerness to learn about training and evaluating deep learning models using cloud-managed services such as AWS or GCP.

• Any prior experience or coursework involving MLops tools or involvement in projects with large-scale data or model implementations, like Large Language Models, would be a plus.

• Excellent communication, technical collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of San Francisco, CA is $50/hr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
