Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for the most critical in-vehicle component for what we call Ride Management. It's the primary source of truth of the ride state and makes critical decisions about what to present to riders and other systems at any point in the ride, as well as when to react to input from various other software and hardware components.

You will own the Human Interface Controller (HIC) which interacts directly with various in-vehicle hardware responsible for serving our riders. For example, if the rider presses the button to change AC setting, this goes through a secure gateway into this Ride State Machine which delegates handling to HIC. A lot of in-vehicle functionality that will serve riders needs corresponding work in the Ride State Machine and Human Interface Controller, so this role requires not just great CS thinking, but also a passion for providing the best experience to the end users/riders as well as collaboration with teams of engineers for other in-vehicle components.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of C++ professional development experience.
• Good understanding of Linux OS.
• Experience with build systems, version control, and testing methodologies.
• A technical background, you can learn and understand software development, and concepts such as in-vehicle components, networking, and APIs.

Bonus Qualifications

• Robotics, automotive or embedded HW experience.
• Experience with IoT hardware such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.
• Product security-related work experience.
• Familiarity with networking, TCP/IP, and sockets programming.
• Android development experience.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $204,000 to $294,000. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Additional benefits may be offered.
