Job Description

The Interhost team is responsible for developing software solutions that enable the control and monitoring of software programs on PCU (Program Control Unit) host systems, as well as facilitating efficient communication of messages between PCUs. As an Interhost Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and reliable software applications that empower seamless interaction between software programs and PCU host systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software applications for controlling and monitoring the progress of software programs on PCU host systems.
  • Design and implement efficient communication mechanisms to facilitate seamless message exchange over networks that connect PCUs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze and formulate requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, and leadership to junior engineers.
  • Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, and other technical issues.
  • Continuously optimize software performance and scalability to meet the demanding requirements of PCU host systems.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into the development process.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C++ is preferred, and the candidate is expected to quickly become a C++ expert. Open to someone with strong proficiency in Rust, Swift, or Scala.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex software systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality, well-tested code.
  • Proficiency in low-level programming, system-level programming, and multi-threaded programming.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, message queues, and interprocess communication mechanisms.

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $211,000 to $265,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

Vaccine Mandate

Employees working in this position will be required to have received a vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and/or the World Health Organization.
