What this position is all about:

Research Informatics & Data Engineering is part of an enterprise effort to enable data-driven science at Cellarity by building a robust technology platform. This partner-centric group is embedded with stakeholders across Cellarity’s novel pipeline value chain from Computation & Data Science to Exploratory & Platform Biology and Medicinal Chemistry. Our focus is to build an end-to-end operational platform bridging lab data generation and data science in an exploratory environment, ensuring data is democratized across the company. We consistently strive to innovate, iterate, and improve our practices, while driving novel drug discovery at Cellarity.

What you would be responsible for:

• Design, create, and manage database systems. Proficiency with SQL databases like PostgreSQL and vector databases such as TileDB. 
• Leverage cloud platforms, specifically AWS, for deploying applications and code to services such as AWS ECS, Batch, and Lambda.
• Orchestrate the automation of complex cloud-based workflows through systems such as Prefect, Nextflow, Snakemake, Cromwell, or similar platforms.
• Implement and interact with REST APIs to enhance data accessibility and communication between services.
• Utilize Docker for the creation, deployment, and running of applications and workflows.
• Engage with biological data, particularly RNA-seq, and apply the relevant engineering techniques to manage and interpret the data.
• Exhibit familiarity with common machine learning operations and data science platforms such as Jupyter Notebooks.
• Collaborate on projects using git and GitHub for source version control.
• Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions.

What experiences will you need:

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related discipline with 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in Python programming for data engineering tasks. Experience with libraries such as pandas, numpy, and boto3.
• Practical experience with data and metadata modeling, including alignment of optimized database design with metadata usage.
• Familiarity with AWS services specifically related to storage, databases and automation including AWS Athena.
• Proficiency with modern software development methodologies such as Agile, source control, project management, and issue tracking with JIRA.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully work in cross-functional teams with an emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and communication within the team and across the departments.

• Ability to represent cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform and HCL.
• Understanding of Genomics.
• Create front-end interfaces using Typescript and React
• Experience in building data lake environments on the cloud for life sciences companies. pharmaceutical/Biotech companies.
