In this role, Data Architect is responsible to develop and drive an architectural vision supporting our Western Union Customer Data Domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Chief Data & Innovation Officer team for the data strategy and roadmap and work with the delivery teams to drive data driven technical solutions to the business.
  • Develops and drives the cloud data strategy along with the introduction of new emerging technologies and public cloud services, cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring strategies
  • Develops Reusable Patterns for Data application development in the public cloud to deploy and modernize applications, provide governance around adoption, and affect application development teams on roadmaps and designs
  • Develops well architected DOMAIN DRIVEN solutions, optimized for cost, operations, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Mentors and works with Cross function Data Engineers and architects to bring them up to speed on cloud architectures, including modern programming languages, micro services, and container-based deployments.
  • Design and monitor holistic data governance structures, data modelling and information management.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards across value streams for the Customer Domain
  • Produce key design documents and incremental data architecture artifacts based on project needs and our architectural target state
  • Review artifacts related to the data domain and provide appropriate feedback
  • Develop related data frameworks, design patterns, proof-of-concepts, and best practices
  • Ability to whiteboard, present and discuss different solution options with pros & cons.
  • Guide initiatives through various approval processes such as architecture review board
  • Identify complex issues in a timely manner and provide mitigation recommendations to the delivery teams
  • Demonstrated thought leadership abilities in a complex environment in driving operational excellence, best practices and Collaboration, continuous learning through knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to architecture and engineering communities across the company for related data architecture efforts
  • Be able to remain pragmatic to deliver to key objectives while ensuring strategic fit.
  • Be able to drive data architecture decisions with clear articulation of business benefits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 8+ years’ experience designing and building highly scalable, mission-critical distributed software systems
  • 8+ years’ experience building and operating Fintech data warehouse / data lake, ideally AWS hosted
  • 5+ years’ experience migrating legacy platform to big data platform.
  • 5+ years of experience in the following technical disciplines: application development, middleware, database management or operations, security, integration
  • Experience with Microservices
  • Experience with IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS from data engineering & architecture perspective.
  • Experience with big/fast data, data lake, warehouse, and streaming approaches.
  • Ability to quickly context switch between legacy and modern data approaches.
  • Experience with most of the following technologies – Informatica (ETL, CDI, TDM, IICS, DQ); DB/Middleware – SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, DB2, Hadoop, WebSphere, Pega; Analytics/Governance – Synapse, Databricks, MLOps, Purview; MDM – Informatica, InfoSphere, Quality Stage; Reporting – Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, Erwin.
  • Familiar with scripting technologies such as Python, Perl, PHP.
  • Working knowledge with various python libraries/frameworks such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras is a plus.
  • Exposure to containerized and serverless workloads for various data assets, products.
  • Exposure to the whole data life cycle including classification, categorization, design, role management, etc.,
  • Experience working with data stewards, scientists, engineers, and product owners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
  • Excellent time management skills, including multi-tasking and prioritization.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of various data architecture alternatives

Salary

The salary range is $132,750.00 – 190,000.00 USD per year, total on-target earnings include short-term and long-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
