Job Description

Works on the leading edge of technology, tools, and methodology to ensure that FedEx is a leader in Business Intelligence. Strong innate aptitude and desire to learn new tools and methodology, and ability to understand how they can be utilized to solve business problems. Employs scientific methods and data-discovery tools to find new patterns, insights and relationships in big data; extracts meaningful information from multiple large data sets; develops solutions that quickly and visually communicate results; acts as a subject matter expert in data structure and storage, and in mathematical model and algorithm development; collaborates closely with IT departments.

Minimum Education

• Master’s degree in Data Science or similar field required; PhD preferred. In lieu of a Master’s degree, A bachelor’s degree in Data Science or relevant field with two (2) additional years above the minimum required,(six (6) years total relevant experience) will be considered equivalent .

Minimum Experience

• Four (4) years experience required in solving analytics problems through the application of data science techniques. Master’s degree in Data Science or similar field required plus 4 years of experience in the job offered or 4 years of experience required in solving analytics problems through the application of data science techniques.
• The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or similar field plus 6 years of experience in the job offered or 6 years of experience required in solving analytics problems through the application of data science techniques, or a Ph.D. in Data Science or similar field and 1 year of experience required in solving analytics problems through the application of data science techniques, in lieu of a Master's degree plus 4 years of experience.
• Must have 1 year experience with the following: SQL (Structured Query Language); Teradata and Oracle relational database platforms; data modeling, ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) concepts, query performance tuning and testing; large datasets, Map-Reduce architecture frameworks such as Pig and Scalding, statistical software such as R, and scripting languages like Python and Ruby; visualization tools such as Tableau and Spotfire. May telecommute from home from any location in the U.S.
