Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starting individual to be a part of a team of scientists and engineers that develop data intensive solutions for Army-centric customers, such as the acquisition and test & evaluation communities. These solutions can vary between trained data models, configured software toolsets, and developed software applications. A key focus will be on researching, training, and/or applying large language models (LLMs) to various domain problems across different Army organizations and standing up and deploying customized models and services on the latest HPC systems. Writing technical reports and academic publications is also likely.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Work with a multi-disciplinary team
• Design and build proof-of-concepts using current AI/ML / deep learning / LLM best practices technologies
• Work with research teams to customize solutions to meet research, analysis and customer objectives
• Prepare and present research findings at scientific seminars, conferences and workshops
• Publish technical reports and refereed journal articles
• Mentor junior staff

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 2-5 years of related work experience, or Master's Degree with 0-3 years of experience
• Strong math skills; experience with numerical linear algebra, machine learning
• Experience with analyzing datasets using Python and/or R and respective data science libraries
• Understanding and application of the machine learning process using common machine learning environments and libraries, especially deep learning technologies such as PyTorch & TensorFlow
• Good written and verbal communication skills and oral presentation skills
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Experience with setting up and running AI/ML jobs, in particular deep learning training and inference jobs, on HPC environments
• Familiarity with UNIX, shell (bash) scripting, automating tasks and application setup via scripts 
• Experience with programming applications using Python and/or JavaScript
• Understanding of and application of ML operations (MLops) concepts to manage and deploy models 
• Experience container & virtualization technologies like Singularity, Docker 
• Experience with configuring and setting up various off-the-shelf software services to work together (REST services, deep learning engines, MLOps tools) 
• Experience with running the above tools at scale

Salary Range: 

$59,300.00 – $103,800.00
