Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starting individual to be a part of a team of scientists and engineers that develop data intensive solutions for Army-centric customers, such as the acquisition and test & evaluation communities. These solutions can vary between trained data models, configured software toolsets, and developed software applications. A key focus will be operationalizing these data intensive solutions on HPC systems. Another underlying goal will be to bolster the DSRC’s capability to serve a wider range of customer by creating reusable, reconfigurable, and generalizable components of a larger data science toolset. Writing technical reports and academic publications is also likely.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design and build proof-of-concepts using current best practices and data science software technologies
  • Perform research and evaluate methods and technologies to support business needs 
  • Create and deliver professional presentations designed for team members and critical stakeholders 
  • Generate effective written reports and/or publications that summarize key data and project updates
  • Mentor junior staff

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelors or equivalent with 2-5 years of experience, or Masters with 0-3 years of experience
  • Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. 
  • Prototype solutions for problems with shifting requirements, and be adaptable to changes based on feedback from customers. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to create professional presentations and present to peers and management. Effective written and verbal communication skills adapted to the intended audience. 
  • Willingness to keep up with changes in computing systems, hardware/software resources and capabilities, and update solutions to fit them 
  • Experience with programming applications using Python and/or JS 
  • Understanding and application of the machine learning process using common machine learning environments and libraries such as Python, Scikit-learn, PySpark ML, PyTorch / TensorFlow
  • Understanding of and application of data engineering concepts to create data pipelines jobs (ETL/ELT, data cleaning, feature extraction) 
  • Familiar with distributing computing frameworks such as Spark 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience with setting up and running AI/ML jobs on HPC environments 
  • Familiarity with UNIX, shell (bash) scripting, automating tasks and application setup via scripts 
  • Familiarity with various database management systems and concepts 
  • Experience container & virtualization technologies like Singularity, Docker 
  • Experience with configuring and setting up various off-the-shelf software services to work together (REST services, database systems, data engineering tools like NiFi & Airflow, MLOps tools) 
  • Experience with running the above tools at scale

Salary Range: 

$59,300.00 – $103,800.00
