Job Description

Parsons is seeking a Data Scientist to support our efforts in advancing public health analytics and modeling. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data science, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse stakeholders in public health, academia, and the private sector. As a Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in expanding awareness, training, and sharing of best practices related to outbreak analytics and modeling, ultimately contributing to improved public health outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and maintain a network for sharing information, resources, and expertise related to public health analytics and modeling.
• Convene regular and ad hoc meetings, fostering open communication and collaboration among network members and supporting information and personnel exchange.
• Coordinate communication activities related to the work of all recipients, ensuring that key messages, updates, and achievements are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders.
• Engage with the CDC and national organizations representing various public health groups to expand awareness, training, and sharing of best practices related to outbreak analytics and modeling.
• Promote high-quality outbreak analytics and modeling through initiatives such as standards development, collaborative sharing of analytic tools and modeling resources, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Apply advanced data science techniques to analyze, interpret, and visualize complex public health data, supporting decision-making and informing response strategies.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in data science, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in data science, with a focus on public health analytics and modeling.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including public health organizations, government agencies, and academia.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various audiences.
• Experience in coordinating communication activities, such as developing and implementing communication strategies, organizing meetings and events, and preparing reports and presentations.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., R, Python) and experience with data visualization tools and platforms.
• Familiarity with the public health landscape, including key organizations, stakeholders, and regulatory frameworks.

Salary Range: 

$24.18 – $42.31
