The Impact You’ll Be Contributing to Moloco:

Moloco seeks an exceptional Staff Data Science Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to join us in building a state-of-the-art advertising platform. You will be leading the Retail Media Platform (RMP) Data Science team. RMP is Moloco's platform to enable e-Commerce companies to provide Sponsored Ads to the merchants, so the suppliers can reach their customers through self-serve performance ads powered by ML (link)

RMP DS team's mission is to improve product performance and efficiency via data science. The team solves RMP data science and analytics problems in the following areas:

• ML model performance and bidding logic improvement (item limiter, topic filtering)
• RMP core ad format and decisioning options (Total ROAS smart bidding, advertiser guidance, weekly flexible budget)
• Operational excellence (New platforms onboarding, platform debugging)

The Opportunity:

• Build and manage RMP DS team (across multiple time zones based in Redwood City and Seoul), managing, developing, and hiring IC, TL, and TLMs
• Ensure your team's work directly impacts achieving product innovation, via metrics, insights, experimentations, and recommendations
• Develop and execute RMP DS strategies aligning with cross-functional leads in Product, Eng, and ML to maximize RMP DS team's impact
• Be a key thought partner and leader with cross functional partners in building the best mobile advertising platform in the world

The role is based in Redwood City, CA, though we will consider candidates based in West Coast US.

How Do I Know if the Role is Right For Me?

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Statistics, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Economics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering)
• 6+ years of work experience (industry or postgraduate) in data science related fields or an advanced degree such as Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline with 4+ years of experience
• Distinctive problem-solving skills, good at articulating product questions, pulling data from large datasets and using statistics to arrive at a recommendation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information and analysis results effectively
• Ability to build positive relationships within DSA and with our stakeholders, and work effectively with cross-functional partners in a global company
• Statistics: must have strong knowledge and experience in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and various statistical analysis techniques such as regression or linear models
• Machine Learning: must have deep understanding of ML algorithms (i.e. deep learning, random forest, gradient boosted trees, k-means clustering, etc.) and its development, validation, and evaluation

• Programming: experience with Python, R or other scripting language, and database language (e.g. SQL) or data manipulation (e.g. Pandas, Dplyr) are required
• 2+ years of tech lead (TL) or tech lead manager (TLM) experience leading multiple multi-quarter data science projects, supervising data scientists while interacting with partner Eng, Biz, and Product stakeholders
• Proven ability to own projects end-to-end, even when you have to get creative: you do more than completing delegated tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time while paying attention to detail and translate analysis results into business recommendations
• Demonstrated leadership and self-direction (willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques)

Preferred:

• Ads, search, and/or quality experience 
• Advanced degree such as Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline

Our Compensation And Benefits (for United States Residents Only)

In accordance with various state laws, the range provided is a reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. We also offer a competitive benefits package.

Base Compensation Range:

$187,259—$280,889 USD
