The Impact You'll Be Contributing to Moloco:

Moloco seeks an exceptional Data Science Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to join us in building and scaling a state-of-the-art advertising platform. You will be leading the Infra and ML Data Science (Infra DS or IDS in short) team and help scale Moloco's successful Demand Side Business (DSP) business from $1B to $10B by improving performance and efficiency of the system in partnership with Product, Eng, and ML leaderships.

Infra DS team's mission is to improve product performance and efficiency via data science. The team solves DSP infra data science problems in the following areas:

• Supply and SDK
• Creative activation DS
• Measurement and attribution DS
• Bidding and cost DS
• New products like mobile Web and Connected TV
• Machine Learning DS to work with ML Engineering teams improve ML system

The Opportunity:

• Build and manage Infra DS team (across multiple time zones based in Redwood City, Seattle, and London), managing, developing, and hiring IC, TL, and TLMs.
• Ensure your team's work directly impacts achieving product innovation, via metrics, insights, experimentations, and recommendations.
• Develop and execute IDS strategies aligning with cross-functional leads in Product, Eng, and ML to maximize IDS team's impact. 
• Be a key thought partner and leader with cross functional partners in building the best mobile advertising platform in the world.

The role is based in Redwood City, CA, though we will consider candidates based in Seattle, WA.

How Do I Know if the Role is Right For Me?

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Statistics, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Economics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering).
• 6+ years of work experience (industry or postgraduate) in data science related fields or an advanced degree such as Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline with 4+ years of experience
• Distinctive problem-solving skills, good at articulating product questions, pulling data from large datasets and using statistics to arrive at a recommendation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present information and analysis results effectively.
• Ability to build positive relationships within DSA and with our stakeholders, and work effectively with cross-functional partners in a global company.
• Statistics: must have strong knowledge and experience in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and various statistical analysis techniques such as regression or linear models.
• Machine Learning: must have deep understanding of ML algorithms (i.e. deep learning, random forest, gradient boosted trees, k-means clustering, etc.) and its development, validation, and evaluation.
• Programming: experience with Python, R or other scripting language, and database language (e.g. SQL) or data manipulation (e.g. Pandas, Dplyr) are required.
• 2+ years of tech lead (TL) or tech lead manager (TLM) experience leading multiple multi-quarter data science projects, supervising data scientists while interacting with partner Eng, Biz, and Product stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

• Ads, search, and/or quality experience is strongly preferred.
• Advanced degree such as Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time while paying attention to detail and translate analysis results into business recommendations.
• Proven ability to own projects end-to-end, even when you have to get creative: you do more than completing delegated tasks.
• Demonstrated leadership and self-direction. Willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.

Our Compensation And Benefits (for United States Residents Only)

Base Compensation Range: Min $200,160 - $300,240

In accordance with various state laws, the range provided is a reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. We also offer a competitive benefits package.
