RESPONSIBILITIES

Peraton is seeking a Data Scientist with Natural Language Processing (NLP) expertise who can leverage experience and expertise in data exploration, and engineering, to explore, architect, develop, and deploy application for processing structured and unstructured data into usable data formats for long term storage, search, and analysis. The right candidate will be part of developing cutting edge NLP applications. Duties include finding and designing new approaches to handling, analyzing and using large volumes of law enforcement, intelligence, investigative, and business data sets; exploring fundamenal issues with data handling, search, and retention; solving complex data and storage issues; designing new software coding to improve data search processes; designing, testing and validating the quality of the data and data processes; and analyzing and reporting results with actionable recommendations. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications: 

• Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a focus on Generative AI, NLP, or multimodal learning.
• Eight (8) years of experience with languages, such as Java, Scala or Python, used in support of development and production operations
• Proven track record of conducting high-quality research in the field of Generative AI, demonstrated through publications in top-tier conferences or journals.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Hive, Apache, Pig, Apache Spark, MapReduce, Hadoop, and MongoDB) 
• Experience with multimodal learning and integrating different modalities (text, images, audio) into generative models is highly desirable.
• Strong expertise in large language modeling techniques, such as Transformer-based models (e.g., GPT, BERT) and their applications to generative tasks
• Have experience on building large language models taking them from research to production 
• Solid understanding of natural language processing techniques, including semantic understanding, entity recognition, and sentiment analysis.
• Experience with the AWS
• A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.

Desired Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of MLOps pipeline to support enterprise scale deep learning using Kubernetes or Docker 
• Products implementation experience of TensorFlow and/or PyTorch stack 
• Good to have in depth experience of Generative AI and mathematics behind it
• Experience with search tools - Solr or Elastic Search
• Have worked in an Agile environment. 
• You have worked on teams that practice Agile methodologies
