Job Description

Emerging Sensors Systems Engineering provides both coordination and systems engineering expertise to accelerate the adoption of new Technologies into the NSG enterprise. The candidate is responsible, in coordination with ATS, Research, GI, CIO-T and NGA mission partners to define, document, present and defend future capabilities and assist in the evolution of ground architectures to support emerging sensors. The contractor will work directly with the Analysis Program Manager and Integration Lead to develop plans and provide assessments of the technical impacts and/or tradeoffs for capability deliveries. Will work with the agency emerging sensors team to assess new/modified technologies for fit-for-use by NGA/NSG analysts and provide documented and quantifiable reports to inform architecture decisions. Develop and present effective technical presentations to program managers, senior management and to technical / engineering audiences and participate in issue resolution within and across agencies.

This position will report directly to the Analysis lead for an emerging sensor program.

Duties include:

  • Provide input to and help to draft/review appropriate emerging sensor documentation.
  • Work to decompose emerging sensor capabilities into enduring requirements and engage with IPA product managers to see those requirements implemented in the enterprise baseline.
  • Engage with mission customers and users to shape and define future capabilities.
  • Participate in customer and program strategic and tactical planning activities.
  • Participate in the development of system architectures to evolve mission services.
  • Assess new technologies for fit-for-use by mission services, employing quantifiable and traceable criteria to enable future decision making.
  • Conduct AoAs and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Identify project key decision points and provide Go/No-Go recommendations.
  • Conduct user outreach to communicate planned architecture changes, operational concepts, and project status, and accept user inputs for optimization of delivery plans.
  • Produce weekly activity reports for use by government customers and the program.
  • Develop and present effective technical presentations to senior management and to technical/non-technical audiences; must possess strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Explain technical issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences; and conduct issue coordination within and across agencies.
  • Work with customers to resolve technical and programmatic issues.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Imagery Sciences / Physical Sciences / related STEM or technical degree
  • 12+ years of systems engineering, systems integration, or systems development experience
  • Experience in government or industry in relevant work areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, SAFe Agile acquisition product ownership, merging disparate architectures, CONOPS development, automation and computer vision, conducting imagery and/or geospatial analysis.
  • Systems Engineering experience with large (MSA) programs with multiple and complex interdependencies.

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science / Mathematics / Physical Sciences / Engineering / related STEM or technical degree 
  • At least two years’ experience within the last 5 years with leading the systems engineering aspects of an MSA.
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more disciplines of GEOINT analytic tradecraft and analysis production system development
  • 2+ years of experience in government acquisition processes
  • 1+ years of experience in agile Systems development
  • Demonstrated experience with leading programs and related efforts at ODNI and USDI.
  • Background in Engineering/Physical Science/Imagery Science

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
