NASA’s EDP powers the Information-Driven environment. NASA realizes that being data-driven isn’t enough, but to continue to explore new frontiers they must capitalize on the value buried away in the huge volume of their unstructured information (text) in addition to structured data. NASA’s EDP enables information-driven operations by providing a Data and Analytics platform that brings together all enterprise information assets and intelligently serves up the most pertinent information and insights regardless of content, source system, or format. We do this through a state-of-the-art data exchange pipeline, data modeling, and data visualization and analytics platform to make sense of the vast and rapidly growing content in NASA and external to NASA.

Job Description: 

  • The Data Platform Systems Administrator will become a technical expert in NASA’s EDP focused on operations and maintenance of the systems, Applications, and infrastructure that make up the platform. They will be comfortable working in a Cloud environment with code, complex data sources, and technical nuances of software and hardware.
  • Manage platform upgrades, review product releases for enhancements and additional functionality, serve as point of contact for support teams and technical issues.
  • Manage SLA’s, performance and optimization opportunities of the cloud platforms.
  • Leverage industry standard KPI’s to measure the performance of the data platforms and processes.
  • Monitor and centralize multi-cloud budget, expenses, and user activity to provide recommendations on cost avoidance and optimization of cloud environments.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience

Required Experience: 

  • Experience with systems administration of Windows Server and Desktop
  • Experience with Linux system
  • Experience administering systems in the AWS Cloud environment
  • Experience with automation and configuration tools such as Ansible
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS/IS/IT, engineering)

Desired Experience: 

  • Familiarity with Tableau, Alteryx, and/or Power BI
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Database platforms MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, PostGres, MongoDB, Redshift, DynmoDB
  • Experience with data warehouse / data lakes - Databricks
  • Experience with search and search platforms
  • Experience with analytics, business intelligence, or data science
